Angela's Angle Archive
Well, a lot has happened since the last time I have "talked" to you all. We, once again, have had some highs and lows. We lost a tough one on the road to Kentucky and won a great home game against Ole Miss. Because I am a positive person I am choosing not to speak about the Kentucky game but instead am looking at our stellar win versus the Rebels. We absolutely redeemed ourselves since the embarrassing loss we suffered in Oxford.
We have been everything but consistent this season, but with the number of games we have left dwindling down, there is no alternative but to keep moving up after our win against Mississippi. Next up, LSU on Thursday. We are looking for another fantastic crowd like we had on Sunday...the largest crowd of the season. It really makes a difference.
I must share about this pretty awesome class I am taking this semester. It is called Sociology of Baseball. Not only is our teacher (Professor Ronnie Steinberg) very passionate about sports, she supports women's basketball among many other Vanderbilt sports' teams. I not only love this class because it focuses on relationships with sports but because baseball was my first love.
I grew up playing ever since the age of four (along with basketball) and fell in love instantly. With my dad's history as a pitcher, that is where my initial passion was. There is such a great feeling about being on the mound and knowing that the batter is at your mercy. I played up until I was 12 years old and then decided to retire to focus on this other sport I was playing, basketball.
I do not regret giving up baseball because I love basketball so much, but some of the fondest memories of my life came on the baseball diamond. Oh, and by the way, my little league all star team had a slightly good outfielder...you might have heard his name combined with Kentucky and another sport called football...Randall Cobb. I'm looking forward to watching him in the NFL...a good friend and a wonderful person.
Again the Ole Miss crowd spoiled us so we expect that many people and then some for our game against LSU!
