It is finally here. After months of anticipation, Vanderbilt's 2013 football season got underway Thursday as the Commodores held their first practice of the season. The day began early with a 6 a.m. wake-up call.

The first day of practice also meant it was a press conference day for Nashville media members. The interview session began with Coach James Franklin at the podium. The press conference lasted approximately 30 minutes and at the end, Franklin was presented with the 2013 Tennessee Sports Writers Association College Football Coach of the Year award by Teresa Walker of the Associated Press.

The media also spoke with offensive coordinator John Donovan, defensive coordinator Bob Shoop and special teams coordinator Charles Bankins before speaking with a number of Vanderbilt's players.
