Pregame Notes 

• Vanderbilt is in its 124th year of organized football. 

• The Commodores wore white helmets and jerseys with black pants, marking the first time this season the team donned the uniform combination.

Florida won the toss and deferred to the second half, Vanderbilt received the ball in the first half.

• Attendance was 88,004.

• Vanderbilt captains for the game were Wesley Johnson, Walker May, Chase Garnham and Andrew East.


Team Notes

• Saturday’s meeting was the 47th between the two teams in a series that started in 1945.

• Vanderbilt led 17-3 at the half, marking the fifth time this season the Dores took a lead to the locker room.

• The Commodores’ win at Florida is the first for Vandy since 1945 and the first win over Florida since winning in Nashville in 1988.

• Vanderbilt has now beaten Georgia and Florida in the same season for the first time ever.

• The Dores have won six straight November games dating back to 2011.


Individual Notes

Dillon van der Wal made his first career start for the Commodores, getting the nod at tight end.

Jordan Matthews 13-yard catch on the second play of the game extended his streak to 30 games with at least one catch.

Andre Hal intercepted his first pass of the year in the first quarter returning 20 yards back to the Florida 10-yard line to set up the Dores’ second score.

• Jerron Seymour’s 10-yard TD run in the first quarter was his 10th score of the season. He now has at least one TD in eight of the nine games this season.

Kenny Ladler intercepted his team-best third pass of the year in the second quarter to set up the Dores’ third scoring drive. Ladler now has interceptions in two straight games.

Patton Robinette rushed five yards for his fourth rushing TD of the season to cap the Commodores’ third scoring drive of the game.

Walker May forced his first fumble of the season near the end of the first half with Steven Clarke recovering it.

Andrew Williamson picked off his first career pass early in the third quarter returning 38 yards down to the Florida four-yard line.

Jerron Seymour bounced into the end zone from two yards out in the third quarter to give him his second TD of the day. Seymour now has three games this season with two rushing scores.

• Carey Spear’s second 31-yard field goal late in the 4th quarter gave the senior his first two field goal game of the year.

Jerron Seymour carried the load with a career-best 24 carries, gaining a team-best 66 yards.


Offensive Notes

• Vanderbilt took the opening drive of the game 62 yards on 13 plays for three points. The drive covered 7:04 on the clock – the longest scoring drive of the season for VU. The Dores now have 14 scoring drives of at least 10 plays.

• Vandy’s scoring drive on the first drive of the game marked the first time this season the Dores took the opening drive for points in SEC play.

• Jerron Seymour’s 10-yard TD run in the first quarter gave the Commodores their seventh one-play scoring drive of the season.

• Vanderbilt’s 10 points in the first quarter are the most in a game this season.

• The Commodores improved to 32-for-36 in getting points in the red zone this season and has now scored 26 red zone TDs.

• Jerron Seymour’s rushing TD in the third quarter gave the Dores 24 points on the day and the 15th straight game with 24-plus points for VU.

• Jerron Seymour’s third rushing TD of the day came in the fourth quarter and made him the first Commodore to rush for three scores since Zac Stacy last season vs. Wake Forest.

• Vanderbilt’s fourth scoring drive of the season went 17 plays and eclipsed 7:22 on the clock, both season highs for VU.

• The Commodores were 5-for-5 in the red zone scoring points to improve to 35-for-39 on the year.


Defensive Notes

• Vanderbilt held Florida to 50 yards of offense in the first quarter and 140 yard in the first half.

• With interceptions from Andre Hal and Kenny Ladler in the first half VU matched their season-high set against UAB.

• The Dores’ D forced three turnovers (two interceptions, one fumble recovery) in the first half vs. Florida, giving the unit 11 forced turnovers in the last three games.

• Vanderbilt’s four turnovers on the day give the defense 12 forced turnovers over the last three games and 19 for the season.


Special Teams Notes

Carey Spear kicked his seventh field goal of the season in the first quarter putting a 31-yarder through the up rights to give Vandy the lead.

• Carey Spear’s second 31-yard field goal late in the 4th quarter gave the senior his first two field goal game of the year.
