Vandy Victorious Over Shorthanded Missouri

Dores defeat Mizzou 4-0 on Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis picked up back-to-back wins at the Ensworth Tennis Facility this weekend after defeating shorthanded Missouri, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon. The Commodores swept the Tigers, who had only four student-athletes available, two days after earning a victory over Arkansas.

The Commodores (11-5, 6-3 SEC) swiftly claimed the early lead when Holly Staff and Amy Stevens clinched the doubles point, defeating Roma Cardenas Rifka and Sophia McLellan 6-1. Naomi Katz and Sonya Macavei won by forfeit on Court 3 and No. 33 Anessa Lee and Celia-Belle Mohr’s match went unfinished.

Stevens and Katz both picked up points for Vandy with wins by forfeit on Courts 5 and 6, respectively, before Staff clinched the match for Vandy when she overcame McLellan once more in singles, 6-1, 6-0. Lee led Andrea Artimedi on Court 3 6-3 when her match went unfinished. Valeria Ray and No. 11 Mohr also abandoned their matches, with Ray on Court 2 at 6-4 in the first set and Mohr on Court 1, 6-0, 3-2
