Trio of Dores Earn All-SEC Honors

Jordyn Cambridge (Defensive), Iyana Moore (Second Team) and Khamil Pierre (Freshman) were each selected to an All-SEC team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Graduate student Jordyn Cambridge, junior Iyana Moore, and freshman Khamil Pierre were each selected to an All-SEC team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

The 2024 SEC postseason awards and all-conference teams were voted on by the league’s coaches. Cambridge was selected to the All-SEC defensive team for the third time in her career, while Moore was named to the All-SEC second team for the first time. Pierre rounded out the trio with her selection to the All-SEC freshman team.

Cambridge makes her third appearance on the All-SEC defensive team, as she was previously selected to the squad during the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons. Cambridge’s three selections to the All-SEC defensive team break a tie with Jennifer Risper for the most in program history.

Known for her defensive prowess, Cambridge leads the SEC with 107 steals, which is the third-most in NCAA Division I this season. The guard’s 3.6 steals per game average also paces the SEC and is third-best nationally. Cambridge recently became Vanderbilt’s all-time steals leader, as she has collected 341 steals during her collegiate career. Cambridge’s 341 career steals are also the 10th-most in SEC history. The Nashville, Tennessee, native had a season-high eight-steal performance against Radford on Dec. 31, while she had three or more steals in a league-high 23 games. The guard also holds the program’s single-season steals record, as she collected 129 during the 2021-22 campaign, and she is the school’s single-game record holder for most steals, as she had 10 steals against UAlbany back on Dec. 8, 2021.

Moore makes her debut on the All-SEC second team having a breakout season that saw her average a team-best 17.6 points per game in SEC play. It is the second time that Moore has been selected to an All-SEC squad, as she was named to the 2021-22 All-SEC freshman team.

The guard from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, returned to the court this season after missing the 2022-23 campaign due to injury. Moore led the Commodores in scoring this season, as she averaged 13.7 points per game in 30 contests overall. The guard scored 20 or more points in seven games, while her career-high 37-point performance at Kentucky was the most points scored by any SEC player in a league game this season. Moore is shooting 38.4 percent from the field this season and her 49 3-point field goals rank second-best on the team.

Pierre had made an immediate impact during her first season at Vanderbilt, which earned her a spot on the All-SEC freshman team. Pierre is the third Commodore to be selected to the All-SEC freshman team under the direction of head coach Shea Ralph, as she joins Iyana Moore and Sacha Washington, who made the team during the 2021-22 season.

The 6-2 forward burst onto the scene in SEC play, as she was second on the team in scoring in league games at 10.4 points per contest. The Queen Creek, Arizona, native was named SEC Freshman of the Week a school-record five times, while the five selections tied her with Arkansas’ Taliah Scott for the most won by a player this season. All three of Pierre’s double-doubles this season came against an SEC foe. She scored a career-high 28 points at Georgia on Feb. 11, and she pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds in a double-double performance against Missouri on Jan. 14.

Vanderbilt heads to Greenville, South Carolina this week to participate in the 2024 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament. All games will be played at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
