The Leone File
Gianna Leone prepped at Waccamaw High School and owns prep-best times of 5:03.24 in the 1,600 meters, 11:02.60 in the 3,200 meters and 18:11.2 in the 5K (XC). In the 1,600 meters, she is a three-time state and regional champion. In the 3,200 meters, she placed third at the 2023 SCHSL State Championships and was a state and regional champion in 2021. Leone was the 2023 5K SCHSL state cross country champion and was seventh at the state championships in 2020. She has been honored as all-state in cross country on three occasions. In high school, Leone was a member of the National Honor Society.
