Finished 10th overall at Commodore Classic, running 19:28.02 for 5K... Season best at 5K was 18:35 at Notre Dame Invitational, good for 107th overall and fifth on team... Did not compete in opening Belmont Invitational.

2004 Cross Country: Ran 24th overall in Belmont Invitational with 15:24.27 effort... Sixth best Commodore runner at Belmont meet.

2003 Cross Country: Opened year strong with 19th overall finish in Belmont Invitational (11:27), then ran 11th overall with 19:44 effort at Commodore Classic... Hip injury reduced effectiveness in second part of campaign.

In High School: 3200-meter state champion and 1,600-meter runnerup as senior... Set school marks at 800, 1600 and 3200... Named Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year at school... Two-time track captain... cross country MVP as senior after fourth place finish at state... Received conference's Cross Country Runner of the Year Award... Also competed in volleyball, basketball and swimming.

Personal: Shannon Leigh Capps... Daughter of Lee and Pat Capps... Has one brother... Was valedictorian of senior class and President of National Honor Society chapter... Plans to major in chemical engineering.
