SEC Release

Senior pole vaulter Alyson Hasty has been named to the 2013 Southeastern Conference Track and Field Community Service Team. The team was announced on Tuesday, May 7, by the league in advance of the upcoming SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

A child development major, Hasty does extensive work with a local counseling service called Daystar, which provides counseling to kids and families in Middle Tennessee on everything from school to family issues. She also has volunteered the past few summers at Daystar's summer camp, Cape Hopetown, which provides counseling services in a group setting in weekly sessions.

The league presents a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight a male and female athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community through superior service efforts.
