Vandy heads to Georgia Tech

The Vanderbilt track and field team will head to its second meet of the 2013 outdoor season, the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Georgia Tech.

Action begins on Friday in Atlanta with the hammer throw and the 5,000 meters. Vanderbilt not have any women competing on day one, but several men will run in the 5K, including John Ewing, Matthew Cleveland, Nick French and Alan Ash.

Saturday will see a full day of action, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the shot put and javelin. Jennifer Cannon and Janetra Gleaves will participate in the shot and the long jump (12:30 p.m.). Alyson Hasty and Morgan Toone will participate in the pole vault (12:30 p.m.).

At 2:30 p.m., Ellie Tidman and Brionne Williams will make their outdoor debuts in the high jump, rounding out Commodore field competition.

Track action for Vanderbilt will begin with the 1,500 meteres. Vanessa Valentine, Hannah Jumper, Amira Joseph, Rebecca Chandler and Marika Crowe will see that action.

The 100 meter hurdles starts at 1:15 p.m. and will see Cannon and Gleaves and compete again.

Faith Washington and Skyler Carpenter will both run in the 400 meters at 1:40 p.m., followed by Lily Williams, Sara Barron and Grace Corbett in the 800 meter at 2:40 p.m. Alan Ash will run in the men's 800 meters.
