SEC Indoor Championships Schedule
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt women's track team travels to Fayetteville, Ark. this weekend to compete in the SEC Indoor Championships. This weekend will mark the end of the outdoor season for the Commodores. Vanderbilt had a record-breaking indoor season with many personal marks achieved and school records shattered. The Commodores will look to continue that trend this weekend.
For the field events, it was the shared accomplishment of junior Katherine Hendricks and sophomore Meagan Martin in breaking the VU indoor pole vault record at the ISU Classic in Ames, Ia. The record, previously held by Paige Roberts in 2002, was 11-9.75. Both girls tied for first at ISU and look to clear 12 feet for the SEC Indoor Championships.
For the distance events, personal records were the highlight of the season, with sophomore Louise Hannallah running a 9:51.44 3000 meter personal best at the Tyson Invitational. Hannallah also ran the fastest mile of her career at a 5:00.94 clip at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational. Look for veteran distance runners Rita Jorgensen and Kristabel Doebel-Hickok to have strong performances at the Championships as well.
For the sprinters, sophomores Anna Carr and Teegan Hill, and junior Taylor Jackson came up big for the Commodores this indoor season. Carr and Jackson constantly battled against one another in the 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash. Hill ran the 400 meter dash consistently throughout the 2010 indoor season, highlighted by her 5th place finish at the ISU Classic.
