#MusicMonday with Skyler Carpenter

Feb. 10, 2014

Skyler Carpenter, a sophomore on Vanderbilt's track & field team, is coming off a great weekend of competition in New York at the New Balance Armory Collegiate Invitational. Find out what music helped her record the second best 500-meter dash time in Vanderbilt history.

"The songs I've picked for #MusicMonday are 'I Can't Stop' by Flux Pavilion, '300 Violin Orchestra' by Jorge Quintero, and 'Sail' by AWOLNATION.

"The beat of the songs I listen to are really helpful in pumping me up before a big race. I started listening to the '300 Violin Orchestra' in high school and and now 'SAIL' to help me zone out all distractions. The song 'I Can't Stop' is great for that reason, and because the only lyrics in the entire song are 'I Can't Stop.' Although comical, the song gets me into the right mindset to run my race."
