This Year in Cross Country: One of the top performers for the Commodores, finishing among the top three in each race she ran... Finished 63rd overall at NCAA South Regional with 23:11.14 effort in 6K distance... Ran second on team - and 44th overall - at SEC Championships with 22:18.37 performance in 6K... Also ran second on team at Chile Pepper Invitational in Arkansas, running 6K in 22:24.4... Opened the season with 10th place overall finish at the Belmont/Vanderbilt Opener, running PR at 4K distance in 14:49.86... Also showed excellent form at Commodore Classic, claiming fourth overall at 5K distance with 5K of 18:22.37... Top 6K time (22:17.1) came in 19th place overall finish at Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge in Virginia.
2007 Track: Put together one of the finest outdoor seasons ever by a Commodore distance runner... Participated in NCAA Regional Championships, becoming one of just three on team to advance... Became the second fastest 'Dore ever at 5,000 meters outdoors... Also posted a Top 10 all-time effort in 3,000 meters... Came up with best race of her collegiate career in the most important competition of year - knocking 20 seconds off 5,000-meter PR at NCAA Regionals with 16:29.59... Eighth place regional effort narrowly missed advancing to NCAA Championships... Mims also scored team points at the SEC Championships with an 8th place finish in the 5,000 (16:58.87)... Breakthrough in 5,000 came at Stanford Invitational with a regional-qualifying 16:49.48 performance... In outdoor 3,000, ran second overall at Vanderbilt Invitational and set PR of 9:47.52 with sixth-place finish at Sea Ray Relays... Best at 3,000 ranks No. 5 all-time on team... Top 1,500 of season (4:37.74) also came at Vanderbilt Invitational... Concentrated on 3,000 meters indoors, with PR effort (9:41.22) coming at SEC Championships... Effort at SEC meet is No. 3 indoor performance ever by 'Dore.
2006 Cross Country: Came on strong toward conclusion of campaign after missing first three meets to injury... In first competition, ran fifth on team at Blue Ridge Open, finishing 5K distance in 19:40... Improved to team's No. 4 runner at SEC Championships, finishing 57th overall with 22:24 performance at 6K distance... Coming back two weeks later, finished second among Commodores behind Erika Schneble and 56th overall at NCAA Regionals, running 6K in 22:56.
2006 Track: Ran three outdoor races - two at 3,000-meter distance and one 5,000-meter competition... Set 3,000 collegiate outdoor best of 10:42.14 at Vanderbilt Invitational... Ran the mile and 3,000 meters indoors... Ran team's fastest indoor 3,000 meters, 10:28.85, at Middle Tennessee State Invitational... Also fashioned team's second quickest indoor mile, 5:15.65, at East Tennessee State meet... Competed in mile at SEC Indoor Championships.
2005 Cross Country: Finished among top eight Commodores in five of six meets... Top team finish was ninth overall effort at Commodore Classic (19:21 5K)... Finished 47th overall at SEC Championships, running 21:52.15 for 6K... Was 67th overall at NCAA Regionals, running 22:55.44... Opened season with 15:48 (4K) at Belmont Invitational.
In High School: Senior captain of cross country squad... Earned 10 varsity letters, including cross country, track and swimming... Three-time Kentucky AA state champion at 1,600 and 3,200 meters... Named AA All-State and All-Region in cross country for three consecutive years... Holds AA state records at 1,600/3,200 distances... national Honor Society member.
