Nashville, Tenn. – Following a stellar showing at last weekend’s fall opener, the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will continue tournament play in this weekend’s Debbie Southern Fall Classic hosted by Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
Vanderbilt is one of 11 teams competing this weekend in the Palmetto State and is joined by Furman, Clemson, Florida State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas and Wake Forest. All 11 teams in competition competed in the 2017 NCAA tournament, three teams made NCAA quarterfinals and two teams competed in the NCAA final four (OSU and VU).
Heading into the weekend No. 47 Christina Rosca and Summer Dvorak own spotless singles records, while Rosca and doubles partner, Emma Kurtz, are 2-0 and picked up a ranked win this past weekend over Georgia’s Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc, 7-5. The Dores’ lone ranked tandem, No. 17 Fernanda Contreras and Emily Smith head into the Debbie Southern Fall Classic having only allowed a season-high three games.
Tournament play will begin Friday morning at 8 a.m. CT with two rounds of doubles. Singles action will start at 10:30 a.m. No live scoring will be available throughout tournament action.
