NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 16 Vanderbilt women's tennis team opens spring play this weekend in Coral Gables, Fla., at the Miami Invitational. The 'Dores will face Memphis, Texas and the host Miami over the three-day hidden dual tournament. 

Vandy, which opens the season in the top 20 for the fourth time in the past seven years, will see some top tier talent this weekend to prep for dual play which opens up on Jan. 25 at the ITA Kick-off in Nebraska. 

The Commodores will see some of the best college tennis has to offer. Ninth-ranked Miami features two singles players and two doubles teams. Stephanie Wagner leads the Hurricanes as the 32nd-ranked singles player in the country.

Texas comes in as the No. 17 team in the country and has two ranked singles players, including the highest ranked player at the tournament in No. 22 Breaunna Addison. The Longhorns also have a ranked doubles team.

Memphis heads to Florida tied as the No. 31 team in the country. The Tigers have the 53rd-ranked doubles team in Stefanie Mikesz and Caroline Wegner.

The Dores go in as one of the deepest teams with four ranked singles players and two doubles teams. VU is led by No. 48 Georgina Sellyn, who jumped up 23 spots from her preseason ranking. Also ranked for the Dores are No. 61 Lauren Mira, No. 78 Sydney Campbell and No. 102 Ashleigh Antal.

In doubles Antal and Campbell lead the Commodores as the 28th-ranked team. Courtney Colton and Mira go in to the tournament as the 36th-ranked doubles team.


 

 

Following the Miami Invitational it is off to Lincoln, Neb., for the ITA Kick-off weekend. The third-seeded Dores will take on Texas Tech. The top seed and host Nebraska will face fourth-seeded Georgia Tech.
