CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 21 Vanderbilt saw its four-match win streak come to an end Friday afternoon to the hands of No. 2 UCLA, 4-1, in the first round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship hosted by the The Commodores (4-1) will play in the consolation bracket Saturday, while UCLA moves on to play the winner of Miami (Fla.) and Nebraska. In No. 1 doubles, Courtney Colton and Lauren Mira teamed up to take down the 16th-ranked duo Robin Anderson and Skylar Morton, 8-7(7-3). The Vandy duo improved to 9-4 overall on the season and 4-1 in dual play. UCLA would go on to win doubles at No. 2 and No. 3 to take a 1-0 lead into singles competition. Ashleigh Antal delivered the lone win in singles for Vanderbilt at the No. 6 position. Antal defeated Courtney Dolehide in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. In No. 1 singles, Mira lost for the first time in her last six matches, as she fell to No. 6 Robin Anderson, 6-0, 6-0. The Bruins then wrapped up the match with wins in No. 2 and No. 3 singles. No. 47 Kyle McPhillips bested Colton in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, while No. 96 Pamela Montez knocked off No. 91 Marie Casares, 6-4, 6-2. The matches on courts No. 4 and No. 5 went unfinished. Upon completion of the ITA National Team Indoors, Vanderbilt heads to Texas for a two-match road trip Feb. 16-17.
