Mann tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week

Oct. 16, 2012

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman Jenn Mann was named the SEC Female Freshman of the Week as part of the weekly swimming and diving awards announced Tuesday afternoon.

Mann broke two school records versus LSU in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. Her times in each of those events rank second and fourth, respectively, so far this season in the SEC.

She broke the school record in the 200 breast by three seconds (2:15.03), which was previously set by Laura Dillon in 2010 (2:18.16). Mann broke Elly Faulkner’s 100 breast school record (1:03.90) by nearly one second with a time of 1:03.09.

Vanderbilt won three total races against LSU, and two out of the three were by Mann.

Texas A&M’s Breeja Larson was named the Female Swimmer of the Week, while Missouri’s Loren Figueroa took home the diving honors.

Mann and the Commodores are back in the pool Friday, Oct. 26, when Vanderbilt hosts Alabama at the Centennial Sportsplex. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
