Vandy Swim wraps up regular season
Jan. 31, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt women's swim team wraps up its regular season this weekend, with a meet against Arkansas-Little Rock and a double-dual meet with No. 22 Arkansas and Kansas. On Friday the Commodores will travel to Little Rock, Ark., for a 4 p.m. match-up with the Trojans at the Donaghey Aquatic Center, then its three hours northwest to Fayetteville, for an 11 a.m. meet with the Razorbacks and Jayhawks at the Arkansas Natatorium.
This will be the last opportunity for head coach Jeremy Organ to see what his team has prior to the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships in Athens, Ga., from February 18-22.
"We'll be looking to continue momentum from the last two weekends and try to do some things a little better," said Organ. "Friday we are going to let some girls do off events and then Saturday we'll put up our best lineup because I expect it will be a really competitive meet."
One of the groups Organ is particularly interested in seeing is the freshmen class.
"At this time of year I'm always interested to see where the freshmen are," he says. "It is a lot of racing coming from a club and high school background, so I'm looking forward to see where they at after a full season heading into SECs."
Last time out the Commodores swam in a quad-meet with Western Kentucky, Marshall and University of the Cumberlands. The `Dores won their head-to-head meets with Marshall and Cumberland, and fell to WKU.
Arkansas-Little Rock is coming off a 127-56 loss to Rice on Sunday, and a 148-96 loss to Kansas on Saturday.
The Razorbacks are coming off wins over Rice and Clemson.
