Oct. 25, 2012
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Vanderbilt women's soccer team closes out its 2012 regular season schedule by visiting the Kentucky Wildcats for Senior Day at the UK Soccer Complex Thursday. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. local time (ET) start in Lexington.
Vanderbilt needs a victory in the finale to keep its 2012 Southeastern Conference Tournament hopes alive. Currently standing in 13th place, the 'Dores also need some help to reach postseason play. The Commoodores can get to 13 points with a win over the Wildcats, hurdling South Carolina (5 p.m. vs. Florida), Georgia (6 p.m. at Tennessee and Alabama (7 p.m. at Auburn) if the Gamecocks lose and the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide do no better than a tie.
The Commodores had only one loss in their first seven conference games, but have since dropped five straight decisions. They are looking for a return trip to the SEC Tourrnament in Orange Beach, Ala., after missing the event last season.
