Vanderbilt soccer faces in-state rival

MARTIN, Tenn. - The Commodore women's soccer team opens Vanderbilt's 2012 fall athletics season this Friday, Aug. 17, by traveling to face the University of Tennessee at Martin in the first official night game at Skyhawk Field.

Vanderbilt faces a road-heavy schedule this fall, playing nine of its first 11 games outside of Nashville. The Commodores boasted a 6-2 non-conference record last season, but only faced one weekend road trip.

Head Coach Derek Greene returns eight starters from last year's squad, including 2011 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman honoree Cherrelle Jarrett.

UT Martin returns eight starters from a squad that won the Ohio Valley Conference championship and participated in the NCAA Tournament last season.
