Three on TV for VU soccer
Aug 14, 2013
The Vanderbilt women's soccer team will play host to three television broadcasts this season, the Southeastern Conference announced this week in unveiling its 2013 women's soccer television schedule.
The Commodores will welcome Missouri and Kentucky to the VU Soccer Complex on the first weekend of October. FOX Sports will broadcast both games of the Friday-Sunday homestand. With the addition of television, the Missouri game has been pushed back one hour to 7 p.m. CT Friday, while the Kentucky game remains at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Two weeks later, Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) will televise the Commodores' tilt against Mississippi State. That matchup on Sunday, Oct. 20, is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
"Once again, the SEC's television partnerships will provide us an excellent opportunity to showcase our team and our university," VU Head Coach Derek Greene said. "We expect this year's squad will be exciting to watch, especially with our young talent. We are looking forward to playing in front of big crowds, both at our stadium and on TV."
The league is entering the fifth year of its historic television agreements which gives SEC soccer teams some of highest television exposure nationally.
ESPNU, which is available in more than 75 million households, will televise the SEC Tournament championship match in addition to four regular season matches. Additionally, FOX and CSS will combine to push the SEC's television appearances to more than 15 matches per year.
FOX and CSS matches will also be made available on ESPN3 and WatchESPN but are subject to territory blackouts. ESPNU matches will be available on WatchESPN.
The SEC Women's Soccer Tournament will begin on Nov. 4 in Orange Beach, Ala., and the championship will be televised live on ESPNU Nov. 10.
