GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Senior Ally Carey and junior Paige Cahill were recognized Thursday when the American Lacrosse Conference announced its postseason award winners. Carey earned first-team all-conference honors for the third consecutive season, while Cahill was a second-team honoree for the first time in her VU career.

Carey leads the ALC in draw controls this season and also has paced the Commodores in goals, assists, points and caused turnovers. A Tewaaraton Award nominee, Carey was named the ALC's Offensive Player of the Week in March after a pair of VU victories over Boston College and Canisius. A two-time first-team All-America selection, Carey is Vanderbilt's career leader in both ground ball and draw controls. She also ranks in the school's all-time Top 10 in goals, assists, points and ground balls.

Cahill started every game on defense for the Commodores for the second straight year. The Nashville native has provided Vanderbilt with a second option in the center circle this season and ranks third on the team in draw controls. Cahill had a career-high four ground balls in VU's 13-12 win over Boston College. She also caused a turnover and had two ground balls in VU's upset of No. 5 Duke.

Carey, Cahill and the rest of their Commodore teammates open play at the 2012 ALC Tournament tonight against Ohio State at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. The game is scheduled to start no earlier than 6:08 p.m. CT, following a 3:30 matchup between Penn State and Johns Hopkins.
