BALTIMORE, Md. -- The 17th-ranked Vanderbilt women's lacrosse team faces their second straight conference road test on Sunday, traveling to face 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins on the turf at Homewood Field at 1 p.m. ET.
The Commodores (7-4, 1-1 American Lacrosse Conference) defeated league-rival Penn State at home two weeks ago before falling at top-ranked Northwestern last Sunday. Johns Hopkins (5-5) is opening conference play this weekend. The Bluejays had won three straight before falling at Penn on Wednesday.
Senior All-American Margie Curran continues to lead the Commodores in scoring. She has tallied 30 goals and a total of 43 points in 11 games this season. Sophomores Sarah Downing and Carter Foote and junior Cara Giordano have all tallied at least 20 points this season.
The Commodores defeated the Blue Jays during the sudden-victory overtime period a year ago. But Johns Hopkins would avenge the loss in the semifinals of the first-annual ALC Tournament -- played in Baltimore in 2007. The event moves to Northwestern's Lakeside Field this May.
Vanderbilt closes the conference season this Friday, April 11, when Ohio State visits the VU Lacrosse Complex for a 4 p.m. CT game.
