In our latest video update, senior defender Taylor Lange discusses Vanderbilt's trip to Palo Alto, Calif., to face No. 16 Stanford this weekend. The opening draw between the Commodores and Cardinal is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT Saturday (that's 1 p.m. local in California). Fans that are not able to make the cross-country trip can follow live stats.
The Commodores handed Stanford its first loss of the 2011 season after the Cardinal had started 8-0. This year, Stanford lost their first three games of the 2012 season before rebounding with a 14-13 win over No. 9 James Madison last week.
Stanford opened the 2012 season ranked No. 6 in the nation, but have dropped to 16th in the IWLCA poll and 20th in the Inside Lacrosse deBeer Women's Media Poll. Vanderbilt started around No. 18 in the polls, but has jumped up to Nos. 11 and 9, respectively, after their opening with a 7-5 win over Duke.
Saturday's game marks the 10th meeting between Vanderbilt and Stanford. The Commodores hold a narrow 5-4 lead in the series, but have only won once in four previous games at Stanford (2004).
