Lacrosse hosts Northwestern Sunday
Feb. 23, 2013
The Vanderbilt women's lacrosse team returns home this Sunday, Feb. 24, for a 1 p.m. CT match against top-ranked Northwestern at the VU Lacrosse Complex. Admission is free to all lacrosse games at Vanderbilt this season.
The Commodores and Wildcats are playing the first American Lacrosse Conference match of the 2013 season, and both teams will be looking to rebound from a loss earlier in the week.
Vanderbilt fell at No. 20 Boston College on Wednesday, 13-8, despite a career-high 16 saves from senior goalkeeper Chelsea Pasfield. Freshman Mallory Schonk netted half of the Commodores' eight goals in that contest.
Northwestern dropped an 11-8 decision at No. 5 North Carolina on Friday even though Alyssa Leonard pulled 12 draw controls on the day to help the Wildcats to a 16-5 advantage in the draw circle.
Sunday's game marks VU's fifth contest in the month of February, marking the most games the Commodores have played during the season's opening month. The Commodores will open March next weekend by heading out on the road to face No. 7 Duke on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. CT. The Vanderbilt-Duke matchup will be carried by ESPN3.com.
