Program note: US Lacrosse Challenge

Ally Carey, a 2012 Vanderbilt graduate, and Amber Falcone, an assistant coach for the Commodore lacrosse team, will both compete for Team USA this weekend in the Champion Challenge.

The U.S. women's team will play three games this weekend, with a Sunday exhibition against Northwestern airing live at 10 a.m. CT on ESPN3. The game will be replayed on ESPNU on Sunday night at 11 p.m. CT and on Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Champion Challenge, annually presented by US Lacrosse, is in its eighth consecutive year at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The event will once again features the U.S. Men's and Women's National Teams taking on the nation's best collegiate competition.

The U.S. Men will face 2012 NCAA champion Loyola as well as national semifinalist Notre Dame, while the U.S. Women take on defending NCAA champion Northwestern and national runner-up Syracuse. This is the first year in which the defending NCAA champions on both the men's and women's sides will participate.

Following the Champion Challenge, 18 women will be chosen from the current 24-woman roster to compete in the 2013 Women's World Cup in Oshawa, Canada. The Americans are the defending champions of that tournament after defeating Australia in the 2009 championship game.
