2013: Amber Falcone, named the best defender at the 2009 Women's Lacrosse World Cup, enters her fourth season in Nashville after joining the Vanderbilt staff as an assistant lacrosse coach prior to the 2010 season.

In Falcone's first season with the Commodores, the squad made its sixth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The following year, Vanderbilt notched a win over seventh-ranked Stanford before playing host to the American Lacrosse Conference Tournament.

Prior to leading Team USA to its sixth World Cup title, Falcone was the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's 2009 Defender of the Year as a senior at North Carolina. She led the Tar Heels to a runner-up finish in the 2009 NCAA Tournament. A native of Westminster, Md., Falcone was the first Tar Heel to earn All-America honors four times.

Falcone again has been chosen to represent Team USA at the 2013 FIL Women's World Cup in Oshawa, Canada. There she will play alongside 2012 VU graduate Ally Carey, who will make her first World Cup appearance this summer.

"We are pleased to have Amber on our coaching staff," VU Head Coach Cathy Swezey said. "She has brought great energy to our recruiting efforts and fresh ideas to our program. Our players have grown under her tutelage and we see the difference she has made every day on the field. We are enjoying a very cohesive coaching staff and our chemistry creates a great atmosphere for our team."
