Stratton wins Tennessee Amateur

Vanderbilt rising senior golfer Lauren Stratton claimed her first Tennessee Amateur title on Friday after defeating Ashley Averitt of Oakland, Tenn., 4 and 2, in the 18-hole final at the Foxland Harbor Golf Course in Gallatin. Stratton, from Spring Hill, is one of the nation’s top collegiate golfers and was the number five seed entering the tournament. Stratton, who was also named a first-team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association in May, won five matches in route to her first Tennessee Amateur title, including a 1-up semifinal win over Vanderbilt teammate and 2011 Amateur champion Kendall Martindale.
