Vanderbilt freshman Simin Feng was announced as a second-team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Thursday, becoming the 12th All-American in program history and the second Commodore freshman to be honored.
Feng led the team in scoring in 2013-14, averaging 71.74 strokes and won two tournaments this season, including the Central District Invitational and the SEC Championship, with the latter coming by eight strokes. She was named the SEC Golfer of the Week for her win at the Central District, and the national player of the week by Golfweek.com after her win at the SEC Championship.
Feng fired her career low round of 66 in the final round of the SEC Championship, when she carded six birdies and no bogeys, and posted five other rounds in the 60’s - a 68 in the NCAA East Regional, a 69 in the second round at Stanford Intercollegiate, a 67 and 69 in her first and second rounds at the Central District, and a 69 in the final round of the Darius Rucker. She also had three other top five finishes this season, finishing in fifth at the Mason Rudolph Championship, and third at the Darius Rucker and the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate.
