WG heads to East Regional as five seed

Vanderbilt was selected as the number five seed in the East Regional by the NCAA Women's Golf Selection Committee, marking the 11th consecutive year the Commodores have been named to an NCAA regional and the 12th time overall. Vanderbilt will play in Greenville, N.C., at the Ironwood Country Club, May 6-8.
"We're excited," said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. "We've played really well in our last two tournaments, so we're heading into the regional with some momentum. After seeing our team's reaction following the SEC Championships, I think they are all really excited to play golf again."
The Commodores will be joined in the East Regional by Duke, Auburn, Wake Forest, Pepperdine, Tennessee, Florida, TCU, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tulane, Chattanooga, Washington, Texas Tech, Georgia State, Campbell, ETSU, Furman, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, College of Charleston, Stetson, Charleston Southern, and Fairleigh Dickenson.
Ten SEC teams made the 2010 field - Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, and South Carolina join the Commodores in Greenville, Georgia and Mississippi will play in the Central Regional in Bloomington, Ind., and Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas will participate in the West Regional in Palo Alto, Calif.
Twenty-four teams will be selected to each of the three regionals, with the top eight teams advancing to the NCAA Championships May 18-21 in Wilmington, N.C. The top two individuals not associated with the eight teams will advance as individuals to the NCAA Championships. The Commodores' Marina Alex made the NCAA Championship field in 2009 as an individual.
