BATON ROUGE - Chris Brady fired an even-par 72 to push her Vanderbilt team into a fourth place tie with Birmingham Southern at the LSU/Cleveland Classic Friday.
The Commodores as a team were 17-over par, just three shots out of second place in the field of 16. Host LSU is leading the field at eight-over par, Tulane is at plus-14 and North Carolina State is 15-over to round out the leaders. Complete results are found at golfstat.com
Brady birdied the first and 17th holes to offset back-to-back bogeys starting her back nine. She is tied for third place individually.
Teammate Kristen Svicarovich came into the 16th hole with a solid two-over scorecard, only to post bogeys on each of the final three holes. Her 77 was Vanderbilt's second best total of the day.
Devon Unkeless and Julie Bartholomew added 78's while Helen-Rose Richards closed out the Vanderbilt efforts with an 82.
Tulane's Alison Walshe was three-under (69) to lead the individual board. The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday.
