The 14th-ranked Vanderbilt women's golf team opens its spring season this Monday and Tuesday at the 14th annual Central District Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., in an event hosted by Michigan State University. The Commodores will join 13 other teams at the par-72, 6,325-yard Cypress Links Course for 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
“We are really excited about getting the spring season underway," said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. "It’s been almost four months since we last played a tournament so I know they’re ready to get back out there and just compete. They’ve worked extremely hard this offseason in the gym, at the course and they’re off to a good start in the classroom. They’re focused and ready to go.”
The Commodores will send juniors Irina Gabasa and Kendall Martindale, sophomore Jennifer Hahn, and freshmen Simin Feng and Antonia Scherer as their starting five. Sophomore Morgan Ransom will be playing as an individual.
Joining Vanderbilt in Florida will be Central Florida, Chattanooga, Houston, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Oakland, Toledo, Rutgers, SMU, and UNC-Greensboro,
