The 14th-ranked Vanderbilt women's golf team opens its spring season this Monday and Tuesday at the 13th annual Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla., in an event hosted by Michigan State University. The Commodores will join 11 other teams at the par-72, 6,009-yard River Wilderness Country Club for 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
“We are really excited about getting the spring season underway," said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. "It’s been almost four months since we last played a tournament so I know they’re ready to get back out there and just compete. They’ve worked extremely hard this offseason in the gym, at the course and they’re off to a good start in the classroom. They’re focused and ready to go.”
The Commodores will send freshman Jenny Hahn, senior Lauren Stratton, junior Rene Sobolewski, sophomore Kendall Martindale, and sophomore Irina Gabasa as their starting five. Freshman Morgan Ransom will be playing as an individual.
Joining Vanderbilt in Florida will be Augusta State, Chattanooga, Denver, Georgetown, No. 25 Iowa State, Kent State, No. 22 Michigan State, Minnesota, SMU, TCU, and UCF.
