Day one complete at Stanford
Oct. 25, 2013
Day one of the Stanford Intercollegiate is in the books in Palo Alto, Calif., and the Commodores women's golf team is in 13th place after shooting a first-round 296 at the Stanford University Golf Course Friday. Sophomore Jenny Hahn had Vanderbilt's best score of the day, firing a one-over par, 72, which ties her for 22nd on the individual leader board.
"We got off to a horrible start, 10-over through our first six holes," said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. "It was definitely not what I was expecting. But, I'm proud of how they hung in there and fought to keep the round from continuing to go south. We've got a lot of ground to make up in the next couple of days and I'm anxious to see if they respond the same way they did at UNC."
USC leads the tournament after shooting an eight-under par, 276. The Trojans have a six-stroke lead over second-place Washington. Sophia Popov of USC leads all individuals after carding a five-under par, 66.
The second round continues on Saturday from Palo Alto, with live stats found throughout the weekend at golfstat.com.
