The Commodores finished in second place at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate weekend with a final team score of 872 (293-290-289) in a field that featured 14 of the top 30 teams in the nation at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.  Vanderbilt freshman Simin Feng led all Commodore players, finishing in a tie for third after shooting her second consecutive 69 on Sunday and ending the tournament with a total of one-under par, 212 (74-69-69.

Vanderbilt's 872 was second only to team champion Duke, who finished with an 862 (284-291-287).  The Commodores finished 13 strokes better than Oklahoma and LSU, who tied for third.

Feng, who tied for the lowest round of the day on Saturday, claimed the honor to herself on Sunday with her 69, the tournament's only final individual round in the 60's.  Freshman Antonia Scherer ended the tournament in 11th place, the best finish of her career, after posting a score of 218 (73-72-73).

On Sunday, Vanderbilt also counted a 73 from junior Irina Gabasa and a 74 from sophomore Jennifer Hahn.  Junior Kendall Martindale posted a 76 in her final round.

Yu Liu of Duke won medalist honors after defeating LSU's Caroline Nistrup on the first playoff hole.  Liu and Nistrup each finished with a two-under par, 211.  Feng finished in a four-way tie for third with Celine Boutier of Duke, Noemi Jimenez of Arizona State, and Stephanie Meadow of Alabama.

"I'm so proud of this team and their effort this weekend," said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen.  "They really handled themselves well against a really loaded field.  This is such a great tournament and we're very grateful for the opportunity we had to play."

The Commodores return to the course for their third tournament of the spring at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga., next weekend.
