As a Freshman (2017-18)
One of three key contributing true freshmen... Yu posted rounds of 70, 71 and 76 at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, finishing tied for 30th as the low Commodore player... After two rounds of the regional, Yu was in contention for a top-10 individual finish... She was the fourth lowest freshman scorer at SEC Championship, finishing T-19th with a 54-hole stroke play total of 223... Helped the Commodores advance to SEC Match Play with seventh-place team result in stroke play and posted team’s low round in tourney with a two-under 70 in the first day of competition... In SEC quarterfinal match play action Yu defeated Alabama’s Cheyenne Knight 1-up... She earned her best individual finish of the year in her last outing, shooting a +3 total of 219 to finish in a tie for fourth at the Brickyard Challenge... Yu’s performance at the Brickyard was critical to Vanderbilt capturing its first team title in nearly three years... She helped Vanderbilt to a fourth-place finish at the Clemson Invitational in late March with rounds of 76-71-73... Her 54-hole total of 220 resulted in a tie for 39th in the individual competition at Clemson... She posted a 18-over total of 231 in windy, cool conditions at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate staged at the Long Cove Club's Pete Dye course at Hilton Head... In her first outing of the spring, Yu earned a tie for seventh place in the individual standings at the UCF Challenge... Her UCF performance included rounds of 74, 73 and 70... During the fall campaign, Yu made an immediate contribution to the Commodores, averaging 73.00 during the three tournaments she participated in... In her first appearance, Yu shot 68-75-69 for a four-under total of 212 at the Mason Rudolph Championships, helping the Commodores to an impressive fourth place team finish... Yu posted a seven-over total of 223 at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational and finished in a tie for 33rd in the Battle at the Beach Invitational in Cabo San Lucas, shooting 76-75-71 for a 222 total.
Four-year varsity player for suburban Atlanta public school... As senior, shot 36-hole total of 151 to post third place individual result in Georgia Class AAAAAA state tournament... Helped Peachtree Ridge to sixth place team result at state tourney... Following senior season, qualified as first alternate for U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur... Ranked No. 127 nationally by Golfweek after senior campaign... In 2016, named Georgia State Golf Association's Junior Girls Player of the Year after winning GSGA's Women's Match-Play Championship... Helped team to third place result at state tourney as junior... Three-time All-Gwinnett County recipient... Didn't play competitive golf until freshman year of high school... Also played varsity softball... Member of school's Student Council and Student-Athletic Leadership Team... National Honor Society member.
