Bowlers 8th in New Poll

Dec. 10, 2013

Vanderbilt is rated eighth in the December poll of collegiate bowling coaches, conducted by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association.

The Commodores (26-13) had a strong finish to their fall season but experienced periods of inconsistency in their four events and slipped from a pre-season rank of second. Arkansas State moved up from fourth to first after compiling a 31-11 record.

"We have always said we don't put a lot of emphasis on the polls," said Vanderbilt Coach John Williamson. "They offer a snapshot of national opinion. We learned a lot about ourselves during the fall, liked the way we ended it and look forward to starting back up in January."

Vanderbilt resumes action Jan. 17 at Arkansas State's Mid-Winter Classic.
