    Dores' 'Big Three' earn national honors

    WICKLIFFE, Ohio -- Brittni Hamilton was named a first-team All-American while teammates Jessica Earnest and Samantha Hesley were also honored at the annual NCAA Championship Banquet Wednesday night.

    Hamilton was chosen to the first unit for the third time in her outstanding four-year career. She averaged 207.04 pins per game, made five all-tournament teams and had six Top 10 finishes.

    Earnest was a repeat pick on the second team after averaging 205.43 while Hesley was named to the honorable mention unit after a season's 199.96 average. Hamilton and Hesley are seniors while Earnest is a junior. They led their Commodore team to a fourth place national ranking and coveted spot in the NCAA championship field.

    Joining Earnest on the first unit was Fairleigh Dickinson's Danielle McEwan, the NCAA Player of the Year for Division I. Other first-team selections were Jackie Carbonetto of Sacred Heart, Rachel Gittings of Arkansas State and Nebraska's Kayla Johnson. All selections were made after voting by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association, the head coaches of NCAA programs.
