USTREAM | Carper's NCAA Blog: History is made
This Week for Vandy: The Commodores compete at the Morgan State Invitational in Baltimore. The tournament begins Friday at 9:30 (Central) with five, four-game Baker matches. Saturday's bowling begins at 7:30 (CT) with five team games and Sunday has two rounds of best-of-seven Bakers starting at 7:30.
Travel Party: Vanderbilt will travel Samantha Hesley, Brittni Hamilton, Jessica Earnest, Kim Carper, Courtney Morgan, Rebeca Reguero and Natalie Goodman.
Still Ailing: Freshman Nicole Mosesso (back) and junior Sarah O'Brien (hip) have not been cleared to bowl by the training staff.
`Dores Drop in the Poll!: To the surprise of some if not many, Vanderbilt actually fell from a tie for sixth place into seventh in the latest polling of head coaches by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association. FDU is first, followed by Sacred Heart, Valparaiso, Arkansas State, Maryland-Eastern Shore and Central Missouri. Following VU in the poll is Nebraska, Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin to round out the top 10. Voters are apparently primarily influenced by won-loss records and not other indicators such as strength of schedule or tournament titles. The Commodores have won three of the six tournaments they have entered.
Hamilton Nominated: Vanderbilt is nominating Brittni Hamilton for an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship. If chosen, she would receive a $7,500 scholarship from the NCAA to pursue graduate studies.
Viewing Reminder: Fans can watch and follow all the Vanderbilt matches on USTREAM.
Radio interviews: Herb FM Sports Radio will be at the AMF Towson Lanes to interview top bowlers and coaches Friday and Saturday. These interviews will be run Friday from 6-7 p.m. (CT) and on Saturday evening from 4:30-5:30 (CT).
Morgan State field: Bethune Cookman, Central Missouri, Cheyney State, Coppin State, Delaware State, Elmhurst, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fayetteville State, Florida A & M, Hampton, Howard, Kutztown, Morgan State, Nebraska, New Jersey City, Norfolk State, North Carolina A & T, North Carolina Central, Sacred Heart, St. Francis (Pa), Maryland-Eastern Shore and Vanderbilt.
All Access Episode 3: In her latest blog for NCAA.com, Kim Carper gives a behind-the-scenes look at VU's victory at the Prairie View Invitational on Feb. 5.
