Bowlers fifth in new poll

Feb. 11, 2013

Vanderbilt is rated fifth in the latest collegiate bowling poll by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association. The poll considered competition through January 31.

The Commodores, 59-26 on the year, had been third but slipped two notches after a busy month that saw them finish fourth at the Mid-Winter Classic in Arkansas, second at Kutztown State's Invitational and fourth at the Prairie View A&M Invitational.

Central Missouri (60-12) continues to lead the poll, gaining 17 of the 26 votes cast by college head coaches. Maryland Eastern Shore (59-14) held second place with Nebraska (40-12) making a jump from sixth to third on the basis of tournament victories at Arkansas State and Prairie View.

Vanderbilt's next tournament is Feb. 22-24 at the Holiday Classic in Bessemer, Alabama.
