Alumni reunion weekend a perfect 300

Interview with Tower and Redmond

One dozen alumni dating back to Vanderbilt's first varsity team in 2004-05 returned to campus last weekend to renew friendships, christen the Commodores' new bowling center and meet the current team.

The alumni arrived Friday and had dinner on Nashville's historic Second Avenue. Saturday morning they gathered at the Recreation and Wellness Center, site of the sparkling new bowling center, for a few hours of bowling and fun with the Vanderbilt varsity team.

The alums then enjoyed a catered lunch followed by a group outing to watch the nationally televised men's basketball game with Kentucky.

"We had a tremendous turnout of our alumni," Coach John Williamson said. "And nearly all of the alumni that couldn't make it wrote to express their regret that they couldn't get off work or miss graduate school class. It meant a lot to our team to meet many of the women who helped shape our program into one of the NCAA's best. We really appreciated their effort in getting back and enjoyed showing them the progress that has been made on campus since they graduated."

The alumni able to attend included Jessica Tower, Jennifer Redmond, Karen Grygiel, Kaitlin Reynolds, Courtney Morgan, Kim Carper, Tara Kane, Samantha Hesley, Jessica Earnest, Josie Earnest, Brittni Hamilton and Amanda Halter.
