Fry, Hamilton Earn USA Honors

Jan. 8, 2014

LAS VEGAS - Sophomore Amanda Fry was named to the coveted Junior Team USA while Vanderbilt alumnus Brittni Hamilton won the championship as the USBC's Team USA Trials ended Wednesday evening.

Fry narrowly missed being picked last summer at the Junior Gold Championship and was chosen as an at-large pick after a strong showing this week, finishing the event in 16th place.

Hamilton, a four-time All-American at Vandy, defeated Shannon Pluhowsky with a late rally. With the win, Hamilton earns the right to compete at the QubicaAMF World Cup. Vanderbilt junior Natalie Goodman, who was 47th in this field of 105, is already a member of the Junior Team USA based upon her summer Junior Gold performance.

Other Commodores competing in this five-day event included alum Josie Earnest, who was 10th, Robyn Renslow (42), Giselle Poss (57), Tori Ferris (68) and Kendyll Dellinger (77), who ended her tournament with a splendid fifth place finish in Wednesday's round.
