Renslow powers bowlers past No. 2 Huskers
Feb. 15, 2014
HOUSTON, TX---Vanderbilt got another powerful effort from Robyn Renslow and plenty of help from a balanced lineup as it not only dropped No. 2 rated Nebraska won three other games at the Kat Klash Saturday.
Unlike other tournaments, however, there will be no bracket play Sunday. A number of teams were not able to travel to Houston due to winter storms so Sunday's play will be five, quad-Baker games with the winner determined by total pin fall over the three days. Arkansas State has a seemingly untouchable lead at this point. (Editor's Note: complete tournament stats from host Sam Houston State are not available at this writing).
Vanderbilt will play Sam Houston, Alabama State, Monmouth, Prairie View and Stephen F. Austin Sunday.
Renslow, who won the Prairie View tournament two weeks ago, was at the top of her game when it mattered most Saturday. Her 279 against the Huskers ranks among the best games in program history, although it wouldn't have been enough with the splendid 242 contributed by Rebeca Reguero in the four hole.
The day got off to a rousing start with a solid 1,061 score to easily top Jackson State with three scores well over 200. It was a welcome change of pace for the Black and Gold, that have had to make up lost early ground often during the season.
Other wins came over Texas Southern and Southern with the only blemish coming against a Valparaiso squad that posted a 1,013 in victory.
Games are being streamed on ustream.com with play starting at 8:30 CT.
