HENDERSON, NV---Vanderbilt assistant bowling coach Josie Earnest made the 2013 Team USA Monday afternoon at the USBC's Trials but lost in the evening's championship ladder's semi-finals to Danielle McEwen.
Earnest, who has be at the national forefront the past year, placed third in the grueling five-day tournament with the top three finishers being assured of a coveted position. Veteran Diandra Asbaty finished first and Danielle McEwan second in this national field.
After the ladder competition, won by Danielle McEwan, Brittni Hamilton was one of the two at-large picks to complete to Team USA roster. Hamilton, whose last four games were 227-236-248-248, had rallied to finish fifth after the 30 games.
Vanderbilt freshman Amanda Fryhad her toughest day on the lanes and dropped from 16th into 27 place after battling among the top echelon most of the tournament. Fry was catching a plane and will be in class tomorrow.
Earnest not only earned her Team USA spot but also a spot in the QubicaAMF World Cup and prize money to be determined by her success in tonight's ladder. Bowl.com has comprehensive coverage.
