PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball team held shootaround Sunday morning at the A.J. Palumbo Center in preparation for their game at Duquesne which tips off at 1 p.m. CT.
The Commodores (6-3) are riding a two-game win streak and are in search of their first road win of the season. Duquesne is 8-1 overall and is off to its best start in school history.
Vanderbilt expects to have a large contingent of friends and family in the stands Sunday with three members of the team having roots in Pennsylvania. Senior Jence Rhoads hails from Slippery Rock, Pa., which is approximately one hour north of Pittsburgh. Rhoads’ return to western Pennsylvania was the focus of an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Sunday.
Senior Rebecca Silinski was born in Pittsburgh and has a large number of friends and family in the area. Redshirt freshman Stephanie Holzer is from Newtown Square, Pa., which is five hours east of Pittsburgh.
