The No. 13/17 Vanderbilt women's basketball team plays its first road game outside Music City on Sunday, November 18, when it travels to Dayton, Ohio, to take on the Dayton Flyers. Vanderbilt is led in scoring by Preseason First Team All-SEC selection Christina Foggie. The junior guard is averaging 16.7 points per game after scoring 19 last time out against UAB. Tiffany Clarke follows Foggie in scoring, averaging 15.3 points while also contributing a team best 7.3 rebounds per game. Clarke's field goal percentage of .680 (17-25) is best in the SEC among players with at least 10 attempts. Jasmine Lister is also averaging double figures, posting 12.3 points per game to go along with 6.0 assists per outing. Foggie, Lister and Clarke have been joined in the starting lineup by senior Elan Brown (6.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.7 spg) and sophomore Kady Schrann (5.0 ppg).
Scouting The Flyers
Dayton hosts Vanderbilt with a 3-0 record, including a 92-80 win over DePaul to win the Maggie Dixon Classic. UD opened the win with a 93-59 victory over Mississippi Valley to open the Maggie Dixon before the win over the Blue Demons. They opened their home slate on Wednesday night, recording a 79-76 victory over Toledo. Like Vanderbilt, the Flyers are led by a trio of double-digit scorers. Amber Deane leads the way at 16.0 points per game, followed by Ally Malott at 15.0 points per outing and Andrea Hoover at 13.7 points per contest. Malott is also the team's top rebounder at 8.0 per game.
The Series - Vanderbilt vs. Dayton
Dayton and Vanderbilt are meeting for the fifth time on Sunday, but for the first time this millennium. The Commodores having won all four previous meetings. Vandy took the first win in 1987 at Memorial Gym, before winning again the next season in Dayton. Vanderbilt then took a 59-50 win at UD Arena in 1998 before the Commodores took an 86-46 win in Music City in 1999.
On Deck - San Juan Shootout
Vanderbilt will travel to Puerto Rico for the San Juan Shootout. The Commodores will face Virginia on Friday, November 23, before taking on Florida State on Saturday, November 24. Tipoff for both games is set for 4:00 p.m. CT.
