Angela's Angle Archive
Junior guard Angela Puleo is writing a season-long blog for VUCommodores.com. A native of Maryville, Tenn., Puleo is in her first year playing with the Commodores after having to sit out last year due to NCAA transfer rules.
We finally got to play our first exhibition game. Just like with any first game, there are always some jitters but once you get into the game those seem to disappear. I was really proud of how our freshmen have been handling themselves. They are playing well beyond their years and are making our team that much stronger. We will learn from our mistakes against Delta State and have been working to improve our play before our next game against Union on Tuesday.
We decided to have a team dinner on Tuesday night before our first game and before Clair's surgery on Wednesday morning. Rebecca cooked and, of course, it was delicious. Afterward, we played a "get to know you" game. As teammates you spend a lot of time together but most of that time is spent either studying film for games or in the gym. It was really refreshing just to relax and get to know each other on a more personal level. Our team is very different in a lot ways, but that is what makes us who we are. We are from all across the country...from California to New York...with many different personalities and dimensions to each person, but these things make the team who it is. However, one thing is consistent. We all care so much for each other and I know, without a doubt, that we come together as a family and that is something that is almost impossible to find.
For those of you who are wondering, Clair's surgery went great! She is working hard and I have no doubt that she will be as good as new.
Thank you all for your support last Thursday and we need to see all of you (with a friend) at our game versus Union!
