Vanderbilt basketball fans hoping to get a sneak peek at the 2011-2012 men's and women's teams will get the chance to do so at Memorial Madness on October 14 in Memorial Gym. This event, celebrating the first official day of practice, will feature a meet-and-greet with both squads, special introductions, a short scrimmage along with a three-point and slam dunk contest. Fans and students will also have a chance to participate in special giveaways and contests throughout the event.
Admission to Memorial Madness is free and doors will open at 8 p.m. with team autograph sessions extending until 8:45 p.m. when the remainder of the festivities will begin. Parking will be available for free in the 25th Avenue garage as well as in the Medical Center flat lots located off of Natchez Trace.
Fans will have the opportunity to pick up 2011-12 schedule cards and posters for the first time at the event. Information will also be available on purchasing season and single game tickets.
The basketball teams enter the year with high expectations. Head Coach Kevin Stallings and the men's team return the majority of their team from last year and will be anchored by the highly touted trio of John Jenkins, Jeffery Taylor and Festus Ezeli. On the women's side, Head Coach Melanie Balcomb and the Commodores will feature a strong mix of youth and experience with junior Tiffany Clarke leading the way.
Don't miss out on your chance to meet the teams and get your first glimpse of both squads in action. For more information, contact the Vanderbilt Ticket Office at 615-322-GOLD (4653).
