NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Center Mariella Fasoula of the Vanderbilt women’s basketball team will play with the Greek Senior Women’s National Team in the FIBA 2017 EuroBasket opening in Prague on Friday.
This will be Fasoula’s seventh time competing for the Greek Women’s National Team and her second time up with the senior team.
The Greek team is in Group C with France, Serbia, and Slovenia. Greece will open its EuroBasket run with a game vs. Serbia on Friday at 11 am CT, then they will play Slovenia on Saturday, also at 11 am CT. They will play their final game of pool play against France at 1:30 pm CT on Monday. For a complete schedule of the tournament, click here.
Fasoula comes to Vanderbilt after spending the last two seasons with Boston College. She led the Golden Eagles in scoring (16) and rebounding (7.5) last season while playing in 29 games. She shot just under 50 percent (49.6) from the floor and averaged 1.1 blocks per game.
During her freshman campaign at Chestnut Hill, Fasoula was named to the ACC’s All-Freshman team after averaging 13.5 points and 5.4 rebounds.
