Head coach Stephanie White, her staff and the members of the Vanderbilt women's basketball team will all be participating in Walk for Wishes on Saturday, April 8, at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in Nashville. The event supports Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee, and the participants are looking to reach a fundraising goal of $175,000.
Walk for Wishes, presented by Franklin Kia, is a family-friendly, one-mile walk that allows the opportunity for wish kids, volunteers, and community members to come together in support of the Make-A-Wish mission. The event benefits children with life-threatening medial conditions.
"We are very excited to participate in Walk For Wishes," said Vanderbilt head coach Stephanie White. "A wish has the power to give a child and their family a break from what they are going through. It gives them a joy, happiness and strength to continue their fight. We are honored to be a part of this event."
The Vanderbilt representatives are walking in support of Team Jessica. Information on how to donate to Team Jessica can be found HERE.
T-shirt pick up will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a short program at 9 a.m. The walk will start at 9:15 a.m. The day will include a family fun zone and post-walk pizza donated by Hunt Brothers Pizza. Families can enjoy the morning at the fun zone after finishing the walk.
Families are encouraged to bring their friends and children to this event. Walk registration is free, and families are encouraged to register as a team. Walkers that raise at least $100 will receive a t-shirt. The fundraising goal for the event is $175,000, all of which goes directly to granting wishes in Middle Tennessee.
