Head Coach Melanie Balcomb
Opening statement...
"We are excited to be home and we are exciting to be hosting in Nashville. We are looking forward to getting started. I know that we hosted a couple years ago and obviously, this is a great situation for Vanderbilt to show themselves as a university and as a program so we like that. My team has been practicing very hard and they have been playing very hard. I really like where we are at as a team. I think we really came together and are playing the best basketball that we have been playing all season. We are just looking forward to getting started. We have had a lot of time off since the SEC (Southeastern Conference Tournament) and our last game and we can't wait to get the games going. I know they are looking forward to it."

On the strength of MTSU...
"Well obviously, they have a very balanced team with three scorers. The have a point guard that distributes the ball and they have an offense this very disciplined and they are very patient and get the ball to the people that they want to shoot it. They know who their go-to players are. Defensively they do a lot of different things and we need to be prepared for anything defensively. Obviously, they are here in the tournament and they are like everybody else. They know who they are and they are good at what they do. In the same way we have to know who we are and we have to know what we do."

On if they played any teams that press the way MTSU does...
"Yes, everybody in the SEC pressed us this year."

On people saying that they have been "ducking" MTSU...
"We get to play them now."

On how MTSU is different than other teams they have played...
"I don't feel like we have a team that plays like them in our conference. Our conference is very physical and very athletic and they press all the time. If anything these guys are probably more like us and we don't look like a lot of teams in the SEC. They know who they are and they do a good job of doing them. We know who we are and in March we need to do a good job of who we are. We don't depend on athleticism and speed and talent and physical play. If you are going to compare them then I would compare them to us more than any other team in our conference because we don't look like any other teams in our conference."

On if there is an advantage to playing at home...
"I hope so. I have only done this one time before when we were in the eight-nine game and we won in overtime. Then we played UNC and played well but didn't upset them. I think there is always a comfort level at home and being in your own locker room. I think it's more the fan base. Hopefully we will get a good crowd and it should be a really good environment for an NCAA post season game."

Vanderbilt Student Athletes

Jasmine Lister
On MTSU...
"We don't know too much about the rivalry between us and them. I know that they are aggressive and have a good offense. They make the teams they play against defend for 30 seconds."

On playing at home...
"I think we get that home-field advantage feel, but at the same time there are the NCAA decals on the floor and everything is set up for it so we still get those chills walking in"

Stephanie Holzer
On having a two-week layoff from the last game...
"I personally think that coach [Melanie Balcomb] designed a great layout for those two weeks we were off. Some alumni came back and we scrimmaged each other. We never felt like it was straight practice, there was a game-like quality in there. We know this is March so everyone has stepped their game up and revamped what they do. I think we have stayed focused and ready."

On playing at home...
"I think we are really comfortable at home. These are our nets and we shoot on them every single day so we do have that advantage but we know it's March Madness and still get anxious."

On MTSU...
"I know they are a good team and I think they make the tournament every year. They have a good offense and they press a little bit so we need to go out and execute our game plan."

Tiffany Clarke
On playing in the SEC and preparing for the NCAA tournament...
"I think it helps a lot being that there are a lot of teams from the SEC playing in the tournament this year. I think the league is aggressive and prepares us for anything any team can throw at us."
